Accountant Ahmed Ibrahim says that after graduation he tried a job with a fixed salary, but it did not satisfy his ambition. He also traveled abroad, believing as many others that few years in a Gulf country would be enough to make a substantial change in his life, but to no avail. He came back home with a deep faith in becoming entrepreneur. Depending on his work experience in the field of computer assembly and maintenance, Ahmed decided to make his own business and prepared a project’s study. Together with his partners, Mohamed Ibrahim Salem and Hatem Mohamed Ibrahim, Ahmed acquired an appropriate place and got LE 195000 as a soft loan from SFD to start his first steps of success.

Ahmed says that he and his partners have faced many difficulties till they managed to gain a foothold in the market through the refined and reasonably-priced products. They have been awarded a number of tenders, amidst ferocious competition with big companies. They have supplied computers to Al Azhar, Ain Shams, and Mansoura Universities. Their products varied to include computer assembly and trade as well as technical equipment like humidity and temperature measurement, applicable programs, printers, and audiovisual units. They supplied the Ministry of Education with LE 4.5 million software programs. They have also managed to obtain an authorization from the Korean Goldstar and the Spanish Promax Companies to sell and maintain measurement equipment in Egypt. Now they work as a distributor for Micrsoft,
Compac, and the European Cost Computer.

Ahmed says that SFD provides each and every would be entrepreneur in Egypt with a success opportunity. The Fund has financed his enterprise and engaged him in many exhibitions. He has managed to travel to Greece and there he has participated in an advanced training course on SMEs management. The head of SFD mission has supported him till he signed a Cooperation Protocol with the Greek Society for Technological Information Development. About his plans to further develop his project, Ahmed says: “Currently I produce the assembled Supra Computer, I wish I could produce a computer that is totally made in Egypt one day.” |

Sayed Ahmed who lives in El Arish, a tourist attractive spot in Sinai, thought of establishing an enterprise whereby he can serve tourists and contribute to tourism industry. He took the initiative by establishing a simple bazaar to sell bedwin products. When he began to achieve success, he went to SFD and presented an overall feasibility study of his business and obtained a sum of LE 50,000 as a loan. Ahmed’s small bazaar then transformed into a bedwin market displaying a variety of bedwin products and traditional works that attract tourists and meet the needs of Al Arish community and foreign visitors. Such works include porcelain, shells, women veils, décor pieces and gifts.

SFD gave him a chance to participate in several exhibitions in and out of the country. As a result, he managed to commercialize his products in some of the European, African and American markets where he participated in a number of exhibitions in South Africa, Portugal and America. His products echoed worldwide in Germany, France and England. Sayed’s products always find a ripe market for their uniqueness, quality and beauty. |
