SFD
Orientations in the Coming Phase
|
|
To sustain SFD role in
creating more jobs, combating unemployment, and improving
living standards, Egypt’s Prime Minister and SFD Board
Chairman has requested that the amount of SFD revolving funds
should be increased annually to support start-up entrepreneurs
and create a better future for them. In view of this, SFD is
witnessing a restructuring phase to achieve its assigned
objectives in an efficient and cost-effective manner in order
to cope with the nature of the coming phase. This phase
comprises two entities: the National Entity for Small and
Medium Enterprise Development, Marketing and Management, and
the Public Projects Entity. |
|
|
The National Entity
for Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Marketing and
Management will be entrusted with upgrading small
enterprises, expanding their base and geographical outreach,
and establishing small and integrated clusters and feeding
industries. It will also develop feasibility studies and apply
up-to-date technologies and quality systems in light of
introducing new lending mechanisms to solve the problems of
defaulters and loan collateral. the Entity will also be
concerned with assessing market requirements and developing a
production plan through which small and medium-sized
enterprises can respond to market demand. In addition, it will
finance marketing research and studies that will be carried
out according to sound scientific bases and expand in holding
local and international exhibitions to promote products of
financed projects. |

to work for the realization of integrated development, the

Importance to pressing issues like
exportation and environment building on the Fund’s effective
tools in dealing with them. The simplest – and at the same
time – the most important of which is its ability to mobilize
efforts and resources for civil society organizations and
develop their institutional capacities in conformity with the
participatory planning approach (PPA). |
|
|
|
|
|
Therefore, the coming period is expected
to witness extensive SFD activities in contacting donor
countries in order to sustain their financial contribution to
the Fund in loans and grants and create new financial channels
to attract more funds in support of the SFD future activities
and programs. |

mechanisms to face unemployment via
providing education opportunities, training, upgrading skills and
increasing resources dedicated for youth employment. One of the Summit’s aims is to develop information centers and lay
down an approved framework for youth employment plans. Based on its
experience in dealing with unemployment and generating job
opportunities , SFD has taken part in the Summit and introduced
three papers on Marketing, Feasibility Studies, and an Overview of
Entrepreneurship. The Marketing paper has discussed marketing
concept, definition, factors influencing it, tools and means of
promotion to be followed by a start up entrepreneur. The
Feasibility Study paper has been dedicated to reviewing the
concept of feasibility studies and their elements introducing some
guidelines for a technical study, means of evaluating an
enterprise and a feasibility study model. Deepening
Entrepreneurial Culture Among the Youth has been the focus of the
third paper that proposed fast track programs to train existing
entrepreneurs and launch awareness campaigns in universities. |
