 SFD Orientations in the Coming Phase
To sustain SFD role in creating more jobs, combating unemployment, and improving living standards, Egypt’s Prime Minister and SFD Board Chairman has requested that the amount of SFD revolving funds should be increased annually to support start-up entrepreneurs and create a better future for them. In view of this, SFD is witnessing a restructuring phase to achieve its assigned objectives in an efficient and cost-effective manner in order to cope with the nature of the coming phase. This phase comprises two entities: the National Entity for Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Marketing and Management, and the Public Projects Entity.
The National Entity for Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Marketing and Management will be entrusted with upgrading small enterprises, expanding their base and geographical outreach, and establishing small and integrated clusters and feeding industries. It will also develop feasibility studies and apply up-to-date technologies and quality systems in light of introducing new lending mechanisms to solve the problems of defaulters and loan collateral. the Entity will also be concerned with assessing market requirements and developing a production plan through which small and medium-sized enterprises can respond to market demand. In addition, it will finance marketing research and studies that will be carried out according to sound scientific bases and expand in holding local and international exhibitions to promote products of financed projects.
 
Youth Employment Summit :

Her Excellency Mrs. Suzan Mubarak has inaugurated the Youth Employment Summit held in Alexandria Library, with the participation of more than 2000 youth and representatives of different international organizations representing 140 states. This summit is a major international forum that works on creating cooperation

  The Public Projects Entity, is expected to work for the realization of integrated development, the improvement of livelihood for the people and communities deprived of community infrastructure, and give effect to population activities including family planning, women empowerment, childhood care, and infrastructure utilities and services.
  In accordance with this, SFD strategy in the upcoming phase will focus on the following axes:

Developing a flexible work plan responding to comprehensive development policies and orientations set forth by the Prime Minister and SFD Board Chairman.

Responding to socio-economic development variables, accordingly, SFD will participate in “Modernizing Egypt Project”, initiated by the President of Egypt. In fact, SFD will translate such participation into developmental projects in areas that SFD pioneers in most.

Importance to pressing issues like exportation and environment building on the Fund’s effective tools in dealing with them. The simplest – and at the same time – the most important of which is its ability to mobilize efforts and resources for civil society organizations and develop their institutional capacities in conformity with the participatory planning approach (PPA).
Therefore, the coming period is expected to witness extensive SFD activities in contacting donor countries in order to sustain their financial contribution to the Fund in loans and grants and create new financial channels to attract more funds in support of the SFD future activities and programs.

mechanisms to face unemployment via providing education opportunities, training, upgrading skills and increasing resources dedicated for youth employment. One of the Summit’s aims is to develop information centers and lay down an approved framework for youth employment plans. Based on its experience in dealing with unemployment and generating job opportunities , SFD has taken part in the Summit and introduced three papers on Marketing, Feasibility Studies, and an Overview of Entrepreneurship. The Marketing paper has discussed marketing concept, definition, factors influencing it, tools and means of promotion to be followed by a start up entrepreneur. The Feasibility Study paper has been dedicated to reviewing the concept of feasibility studies and their elements introducing some guidelines for a technical study, means of evaluating an enterprise and a feasibility study model. Deepening Entrepreneurial Culture Among the Youth has been the focus of the third paper that proposed fast track programs to train existing entrepreneurs and launch awareness campaigns in universities.

SFD-IDTSC Cooperation

SFD Managing Director Mr. Hani Seif El Nasr and President of Information and Decision-Taking Support Center (IDTSC) Engineer Ahmed Radwan met to probe means of bilateral cooperation in small enterprise development through the on-line Electronic Exhibition for marketing the youth products.
This site currently displays 1000 enterprises representing 25,000 products.
Under this on-line exhibition, beneficiaries can personally update their data simply through user names and passwords.

The meeting discussed methods of enlisting and classifying products of small and medium enterprises and determining local and international market needs as well as identifying quality level in order for these enterprises to be competitive nationwide and abroad.
